I’ve created a set of classes which I’m hoping offers something for everyone. All classes will be held in downtown Palo Alto in a cooking studio and taught by Cindy Roberts unless otherwise indicated. Kids under 9 should sign up for 2 and bring an adult to help them out. SPRING BREAK CAMP: ASIAN FLAVORS Get ready for a delicious journey across Asia! In this hands-on cooking camp, campers will explore the bold, exciting flavors of Asian cuisine while learning essential kitchen skills and food traditions from across the continent. Each day, participants will cook and taste dishes inspired by countries such as China, Malaysia, Korea, and India. Campers will work with fresh ingredients, aromatic spices, and classic techniques like stir-frying, steaming, rolling, and seasoning. Along the way, they’ll learn about cultural traditions, food presentation, and safe cooking practices.
DELECTABLE DINNERS: CHEESY CHICKEN ENCHILADAS, SALSA AND GUACAMOLE Say “yes” to cheese and chipotle as we make this all-time favorite comfort food Mexican dish. Ina Garten made this famous and a huge thank you shout out to her for this wonderful recipe. This is sure to become one of your family favorites after you take this class and learn the secrets of how to make your enchiladas from scratch.
SUMMER CAMP: VIVA ITALIA Experience a week of Italian favorites, both savory and sweet. We’ll explore the wonders of food from this amazing country and it’s Italian American variations in dishes kids love. The bounty of summer produce will be showcased throughout the week. Menus will include pasta, pizza, gnocchi, eggplant Parmesan, lasagna, focaccia, baci de dama cookies, panna cotta.
SUMMER CAMP: EZ PEASY MEALS FOR YOUNGER KIDS If you’re ready to get your younger children cooking up a storm, this camp is for you. Young chefs will learn basic cooking techniques in a fun environment geared towards children ages 6-9. They’ll exit the week with a full dinner menu they’ll be proud of including hand cranked pasta, guacamole, quesadillas and cornbread. As a special treat, the campers will compete in a cupcake decorating contest and a chocolate tasting.
SUMMER CAMP: CAKE DECORATING Yessi of Yessi’s Cake Creations will be teaching students this summer how to make spectacular cakes, cupcakes and more. See her creations here https://yessis-cakecreations.com/
SUMMER CAMP: CHOCOLATE CHAMPIONS We’ll be cooking a host of chocolate treats including chocolate confections and compete in a chocolate cake decorating contest. The week will include chocolate tastings and chocolate tempering mastery. We’ll learn how chocolate is created, chocolate chemistry and other chocolate trivia.
SUMMER CAMP: BREAD AND CROISSANTS Have fun with a full week of bread and croissant making. We’ll be learning how to make a sourdough starter and learn how to use starter to make some terrific sourdough breads. We’ll spend the rest of the week making various yeasted breads, sticky buns, croissants and more.
